Agriculture is the main source of income in McGehee. Soybeans, corn, cotton, rice, wheat, grain sorghum, and cattle are the main agricultural products. There is a state of the art cotton gin, two grain dryers, one rice mill, grain storage facilities and a federal compress in McGehee.

The Bunge Corporation on the Mississippi River provides grain marketing services. The Yellow Bend Port is available for barge shipping services. The port provides cost-efficient shipping in and out of port, using a 40-ton overhead crane as well as a conveyor system.
